My multimodal project links my scholarly book, Black Screens, White Frames: Gilles Deleuze and the Filmmaking Machine (under contract with Oxford University Press), to my stand-alone video essay, This Video Does Not Exist (2023). Blending research and experimentation, my project looks to the interstitial space between critical theory and creative practice for inspiration. Building on the rise of a “scholar-mechanic,” my multimodal project presents the first dedicated effort to combine critical theorization in the form of a scholarly book with a research-creative component in the form of a feature-length remix-assemblage.
